Hard Currency

Currencies vested with investor confidence. Example: US$; Euro.

Head and shoulders

A currency chart formation wherein the price of the currency shows following trends.

i. Prices peak and subsequently decline
ii. The prices then rise above the peak just reached and again decline.
iii. Finally prices rise again but not reaching the second peak and declines once again.
First and third peaks are shoulders; the second peak forms the head.
Most reliable of all trend-reversal patterns

Hedge

The setting up of two counter balancing currency positions one buy and the other sell of the same currency pair with the intention of minimizing losses due to currency price fluctuations.

Hedge fund

Professionally managed mutual funds for the super rich with flexible leverage, long, short and derivative positions to garner high returns in domestic and international markets.

High Futures

The highest traded price for the underlying instrument for a particular trading day.

Historical Rates Forex

The exchange rate of a currency at the time an asset is acquired or in currency trading the average exchange rate of a currency pair over a standard period as for instance 1 year or 100 days. Related Term: Currency Exchange Rate
