I couldn't have said it better than De Vinci.
We need a reliable stable fast backtester with no bugs, maybe Metaquotes need some high quality Linux coders to do the real job for them

If they can make it better then why don't they? They have enough money from brokers they licence the software to so why not employ better coders that also understand the importance of having an accurate system. You would think metaquotes were all about supporting market makers instead of traders, oh wait, they are, otherwise they would have put in ECN feed capability like some MT4 brokers now have.
I like MT4 a lot. It is stable for me on the whole but has its bugs and strategy tester no longer works for me, it suddenly stopped working, all data is now flawed and false with wrong matched data and so many errors and overflow of balance allowed etc. it is now a junk feature for me. I have 90% modelling quality and up to date data directly from metaquotes so it is them to blame for this not me. No EA can be back tested by me anymore using MT4.

Perfect timing too! Just as I am creating my own EA using a good manual trading system. Luckily my system relies on forward testing than back and seems consistent. it really does not need backtesting because all you need to do is use the indicators on the chart to see that the signal is accurate or not.
I think we are like 35 years away from a reliable stable version of MT5. Keep working on this version before, unless you can make v5 better faster.
