Gaz, here I see lots of "Made in USA" stuffs especially on Sony laptops, Chigago grapes, and Hammer V cars.
Computer parts like chips, CPU, RAM and Mainboards are "Made in Taiwan" first hand, then here comes the packarding part in developed countries like USA and Japan which then "Made in USA/Japan" is labelled on the outer side of completed products. It's said Taiwan produces 90% of computer parts supplied to the rest of the world!
This, I know something... my hard disk chips must have been made in China or Vietnam and then got covered up with "Made in the Philippines" label.

I've not trash it yet. I'm writing this post on the hard disk. I'll be doing a Bad Sectors Scan with Norton Disk Doctor first. Maybe i still have some luck... if not it's $160 job to buy a brand new 100GB of "Made in Japan"
