You're right! There's no need to show them.

Filter or group? Filtering means showing only what you choose, while grouping means putting same column together (like now Date is grouped).

The server has 2GB of memory and up to 2000GB bandwidth per month! So i guess it'll be alright.
The calendar is ajaxified and compressed, so it's not using much bandwidth after first loading.
