Hi all! I got a message that I had not yet posted anything, and here I am. I do, coincidentally, have a request.....

Can anyone recommend a good book to learn how to write EAs for MT4? I have had C for dummies and C++ for dummies both suggested; I have also looked thru a MQL II user guide, and it has me pretty well dumbfounded. Is there a resource that will walk me step-by-step thru building EAs? Perhaps something that starts basic and works up from there. I have a system I would like to automate, and am eager to learn how to write it.

Hey, what you need is the manual that comes with MetaTrader editor. Press F1 for it. If you know how to code C, it'd be just easy to code in mql4. Syntax is pretty similiar to C but much easier to grasp.

The effective way to learning mql4 is to look at somebody's code, particularly, the EAs that you like, read them line by line, try to make sense what each line do. After that, you should just start coding right away. You'll learn when you stumble into problems; that's for sure. That's how I learn mql4.

Rememer F1 is your friend.

To learn how to program an EA for MT4, I would recommend learning C++ because of the striking similarities between the two languages. If an MQL II manual has you dumbfounded, then an MQ4 manual will have you even more so as it is even less "user-friendly." Some resources that provide information on programming for MQ4 are below:

welcome aboard, first you have to find your suitable indicators and try to make your own sytem or find the system that match with your trading style
