Man, you're fast! I should have noticed first.

I was wondering what makes an online community successful. Although there're 1500+ members, we're way slow. There should be more than 15 members (1%) online all the time, but most of the time only 1 to 6. Should we do something?

What can we do ? The only way we can change the situation is to market the place, raise the publicity , most of the members signed to this forum because they were hoping to get a piece of FxFisherman pie , then because of the ZeroCode, maybe we should something else like that and talk about it all around, but still , it will only atract ghosts, no posting members, so the only was is to market the place, you know, banners and stuff.

What can we do? delete people who havent posted since june 2005

I see many of them come here and read something. But they don't post.

I read somewhere that we should send regular newsletter to everyone. There's a opt-out link at the bottom of email in case any of them doesn't want newsletter.

In the newsletter, we mention interesting strategies and new features of our site. Before that we may add online version of ZeroCode for mt4 for anyone who want to develop indicators and experts, and advance economic calendar like that of forexfactory.com(?). Tell them in the newsletter all the free goodies.

The ultimate goal is to bring lots more traffic. Hits to forum alone would generate enough bucks to share. We may then upsell membership that has special priviledge to special edition of ZeroCode, calendar, etc.

lets not try to commercialize a community. I think we should any moneys gained/aimed for to the servers and opening a shared account?

Also the best advertisment I've heard of is ear to mouth its free and it shows that you are pure quality. Let the newsletter idea be the main focus, people will start telling others about it and revisiting the forum because they might have forgotten about it.

Memberships is just another way of saying "the rich get richer" but might also stress the idea that "it takes money to make money"..

This could have many controversial issues, so my opinion is lets stick with the newsletter and use the money for hosting + a shared forex account (could be for EvoX)

At least we're not selling the community for money. We're making it flourished with sponsors. I feel this community is a little quiet, maybe not deserved to be called community at all, only you, me and rav all year round. So quiet that there's so little interaction and communication to be productive. Say when I want opinions on evox, who's gonna give constructive posts? no body right now. Somebody asks in the forums, there's only me who answer. It's not a community. It's more like Q&A session.

We want other traders to join this community, to ask and answer the others, to form a big group to develop killer strategies. We want a community that is self-running, different from now which heavily dependent on me. To do that, we must capitalize it.

No one got to lose. We will get a real community and income. Income for system research and development. It's all good. Of course, somebody will get annoyed by these ads, but it's life. To support a life, they gotta to cope with annoyances. And they should know that there's no free lunch.

Oh, i don't like the idea of having paid membershp as well. We might not implement this, unless we want to provide profitable trade signals.
