International Victory day. 60 years ago the Nazi Germany was defeated.

Today is a very special day. A very special day for me. For the people of my country. For the people of Europe. And i hope for the people of the world.

60 years ago the Nazi forces were defeated in Germany, when the Soviet soldiers put a red flag over the main Nazi building, the Reihtstag. Today the German government have raised it once again , to show that they remember their history and they admire the result of the war.

I wanted to write a lot of story`s about how people have suffered and what a hard time it have been , but then i decided that it is useless. Everyone knows that the war was hard. I have heard a lot of stories from the poeple that were dieing of hunger in the blocked Leningrad, who surcicved Nazi deathcamps. I have heard them earlier, and today also. I was puting flowers to the Freedom monumental in Riga , where the main celebration in Latvia took part, and had many conversetions with war veterans and people who survived war.

But i will post only the death statistics, the photos, and let the pictures and numbers talk for themselves.

Why am i posting all this? I just want to show a little piece of war. I just want people to rember that this is the victory of humanity against evil. I want people to admire the efforts made for their future, and milions of people who died for it. And I want people to rember it, and never made something like that happen again ever.

Thank you my grandparents who fought for our country , and gave me a future risking their lives.

Interesting, I didn't realize that it was today. Those statistics have always amazed me, however many times I look at it its always been shocking.

Now a question about those statistics, there are three different numbers, what do these represent?

USSR 12 million 17 million 29 million

12 million - military deaths. Tme ammount of military units died at war.
17 million - the ammount of civil units died at war.
29 - total.

quick question, how did the USA manage to get 6,000 civilians dead? were these nurses or something?

So there were never any battles on the USA territory duering World War 2. But they allied with Britain. Since Britain is an island, it was cut off from the rest of the world, and was not touchded also, only bombed. And the USA and England desided to help Europeans , USSSR generally, and were sending caravans with food, stocks, water, armor and guns. Theese caravans were caleed The pq`s. Ussr paid them with gold for that. There were 3 of those caravans which never made it to land, they were destroued by the Nazi`s. And also at the end of the war the USA decided to help the USSR forces conquer the Nazi`s ( there was no help needed though, the end of the war was very close and everybody senced it, the battles were only near Germany whgere the Nazi soldiers retreated. So US forces went ther and attacked Berlin from the other side of it. USSR from one US forces from the otha. They ment at one of Berlins bridges, two armies. It was a historical meeting. So on theese caravans and in theese fights the US soldiers lost theese people. And i think some poeple from the US could be working or traveling across Europe when the WW2 started, and they could be killed as prisoners.

During 1975-1979 (not during world war 2 though), about 3 millions Cambodian died in the cambodia's worst civil war. I hate war!

Btw, How was WW2 triggered?

How it was triggered? It is complicated. First of all Stalin ( the Soviet diktator ) and Hitler , they have signed a pact ( That was called The Trebentrop and Molotov pact ) , where they claimed that they are allies, and they will help each other. So after that, they are starting to conquer diferent terriotories. Basilcy in this pact they have splited Europe in two parts , thinking toconquer it all. And i think they would made it, if Hitler did not attacked the USSR . So they started conquering Europe in 1939 and they Hitler ruened the pact in 1941. He had a plan to conquer USSR very quickly, it was called the Barbarossa plan, but it failed, and battles were going on in USSR for three ears. Moskow ( the capital ) was not taken, but Leningrad ( St.Petersburg now ) was blocked. People lived months without food eating just 125 g of bead every day. MIlions of poeoples died of hunger, milions of children lost their parents. People traded dead rats and birds on gold and jewelery. There were no shops. I steped a little in the offtopic.
So basicly the world war was trigered in 1939 when Stalin and Hitler started conquering their neighbour countries. But the main battles, and losses began when Hitler atacked the USSR. In 1989 by the international comunity of parlamentaries of ussr the Trebentrop and Molotov pact was claimed illegal.

Wars are started by politics, and are won or lossed by inocent people who die. It is very sad, and I think every normal human should hate wars. But sadly there is a certain ammount of people who like to dictate, and who make money on wars. For example the war in Chechnya ( Russian Federation ) was lasting for eight years. There were no glboal battles, but many local conflicts with terorists. Now , it is uncovered, that the Terorists were sponsored by the people from Russia who made profit of war, and their own , rusian soldiers, died in these conflicts. It is an another example of that politics is a very dirty thing.
