part III

The initial fees quoted by the programmer may be for a very basic service.Bugs rectified over several months after delivery of initial order etc.To get fast ,efficient and quick service ,the coders may ask for more money. So be prepared to pay extra. The coders often have standard rates for basic service, higher rates for efficient and quick service and premium rates for two day/one day service .

Programmers will make claims of fast service , full delivery and excellent coding.Get ready for slow service ,incomplete work and loads of bugs

Talking

Part IV

Another way of finding the programmer's work and comments on his work,is to read the threads and posts ,is visit all the forums.

Some of the testimonials on the Programmer's own website are often written by the programmer himself.Check them out on various forums to see if these reccomendations are genuine. The scammers tend to write their own fictitious recommendations. The friends of the scammer(other scammers work together) tend to post the only good reviews on the scam programmers.

If the coder is selling ready made software on the forums and on Ebay , it is highly likely he does not earn money from trading, and is not a good coder ....but someone who relies on new traders who have no knowledge of trading and mainly selling software.Someone who hangs around the forums all day , may not be a good coder , is always doing nothing and short of work. The professional coders earn around $500 per day and they do not hang around forums all day.

The professional coder will always be a very busy coder , cause all the work normally goes to the good coders who are reputable

All this work will save you time and money , and help you find a reliable and trustworthy programmer

part V

Protecting your intellectual property from a programmer.

If you do not want your programmer to know your system, split the work with programmers ie give the library jobs/indicator work to one programmer and the expert advisor work to another coder.Show them the wrong settings, finally when you receive your completed work then change the settings

The Meaning of "Professional"

So what does it mean to be a professional programmer? What does it mean to be a professional anything? Some definitions simply say to be a professional is "to make money from a skill," but true professionals also have a set of qualities often described as "professionalism." In my opinion, these qualities are: trustworthiness, teamwork, leadership, communication, constant updating of skills, an interest in minimizing risks and accountability. Each of these effect the professional programmer in certain ways.

Trustworthiness The concept of trustworthiness applies in several different ways for programmers. Can you be trusted with a job? To perform a task without someone checking up on you? Can you be trusted to ask for help when you need it?

If you're given clients' data or have signed a non-disclosure agreement, then you are being trusted to respect privacy. You are trusted to check license agreements on third party tools or libraries and to get licenses or permission as required. And like any professional you are trusted to simply do a good job.

Hi oilfxpro,

You're absolutely right about Kalenzo. I learned about him on TSD and contracted him to build some EAs for me. I treated him very fairly, paid him a Christmas bonus to get some work done during the holidays, but none of the EAs he built for me ever worked correctly and he still owes me $300 that I paid him in advance for work he never completed. I got a lot of the same jibberish when I posed my questions and concerns. I'm not a bitter person, but I would NOT recommend him.

However, after I dropped Kalenzo I used a group of programmers in Quebec by the name of "Centaurus Group" -- I thought they were very professional, detailed and did everything I asked for perfectly. I found them on Google, not a forum.

In defense of the programmers, they generally get ambiguous specifications, and unrealistic expectations from clients.

I very rarely code for anyone, but on the very few occassions Ive tried to help people out I honestly cant ever recall getting a specification from a trader that was anywhere near complete enough to begin coding. Because clients cant specify or even think logically in most cases, many projects end up in an itterative cycle of modifications that may in fact be endless, and after a while, one party generally gives up in frustration.

It happens with most badly managed development projects even where the objectives are fairly clear. Add on top of this the complexities of implimenting a trading strategy (that some half witted clients actively attempt to hide from developers) and you've got a recipe for disaster. The dynamic nature of the data adds in more complexities, it certainly makes testing much more difficult, different data feeds, missing bars etc.

I would go as far as to say that unless you can code, you will never be able to specify, or obtain a profitable EA using the services of a programmer, particularly one who actually dabbles in trading themselves.

The vast majority of novices are clueless about their requirements , and the forum programming scammers are waiting for these dingbats .

Most of the programmers are part timers ,working fulltime elsewhere and dabbling in programming. These are not programmers , if they were they would be employed on $600 a day contract. These dingbats hack existing EAS and insert a few lines of code ,only to find they lack the knowledge to do it correctly

That is incorrect. It is like going on an operating theatre and trying to be a surgeon with a butchers knife. We should all be doing the surgeon's job

I hired a professional programmer and he completed 6 major profitable EAS .These 6 EAS are 10 times more powerful than what the self made programmers /surgeons make

Ignorance is Bliss as long as the surgeon was only cutting toe nails

As for me..I group programmer like trader some expert while some newbie but they still trader.Just to tell this month I got a customer that always my coder he said all wrong!!then my coder just try and try to make it right nevertheless actually the fault is on the customer he mess with the EA input and you know he doesnt even apologise or said sorry after with me and my coder. He think himself an expert in mql he give my coder articles about code to do.Seriously he ask many changes from first agreement yet my coder just silent and when all code same like he want(my coder force to give mq4 code even he not pay full)he keep blamming my coder and said the manual work fine why shouldnt the EA.He keep changing the rules..till one day I said to him he has ask far more than first agreement and ask some buck(I said to him pay half)..then my coder said to the customer tht our duty to code like u want not as profitable as u want..then the customer admit it and said the strategy actually profitable but need some manual trick..after that he lost without paying half more.(and you know oilfxpro I give him to pay half even I told you ive change my policy just to know how many customer that really nice..none of them want to see half work so I take the risk)starting from the project we wont receive any of half payment project, all must be paid by full.I know there is many scam programmer but there also many scam customer and that is the fact.
p/s:being remind Im not a programmer I just own a programming service,Im an experienced trader so maybe I can see both side programmer(as I deal with ppl) and trader(which customer)
