Upcoming MetaTrader Version 4

Hello,

On the 22 Nov, the beta version 4 of MetaTrader is scheduled to be released. Check it out! Let's see whether current version of API will work or not.

Cheers,

Scorpion

I heard there was a very big difference from the 3 and it was completely rebuilt. Hope this is a good thing...

Uh oh alert, apparently MT4 is out and it takes on a whole new language. Anything that you had on MT3.x wont work on it.... And they don't even have a converter!

Ouch, I think this is going to hurt scorpion majorly on this...

How do they treat Bid and Ask? One thing that detracted me from it was that they combined the bid and ask into one candle.

It should be OK for me, because my MTAPI wrapper is independence from MQL or any MetaTrader language. There should be little impact on the project, I guess. Also, now I'm looking forward to have the correct download link for the MT4 API; the current one doesn't work.

Good luck,

Well, I got a reply from MetaQuotes staff; MT4 API is unavailable at da moment, so eventually I have to wait for the announcement.

just wondering also if anyone knows if there are any backtesting in the V 4.0 or do we have to wait a bit until they release it with the API. I am eager to use the new MACD Sample now that I understand how they work....

Which type of backtesting did you mean? backtesting by external program or by MetaTrader 4 itself? You don't have to wait until the api is released, because there is MACD Sample included in MT4 already.

I don't know if I'm confused with your question.

I am actually using the MT4 MACD Sample but I cant find anyway to backtest it. For one there is no possibility of adding any history in the History Center and then there is no tab to backtest the Expert once it has been attached to a chart...

I think I read about it somewhere else before but I'm not sure if its hidden somewhere

You are right gazuz. I couldn't find the backtesting tab either. This version of MetaTrader is a bit weird. The program crashes so often, especially when I try to edit the SL and TP of trades. This must be a bug, since I can reproduce the crash again and again.

I understand the MQL has changed, but has the C/C++ API/Interface changed?
