These are estimates I found on the internet. Nobody knows exact numbers, and these seem to be within reason: number of above-ground gold ounces in the world is about 6.2 billion Silver is tougher, as it gets used up in industry. Available stocks are estimated at from 300-500 million oz. Some "experts" have said that all above-ground silver is about 4 billion oz. but include jewelry, silver ware, antiques, etc. Probably available, but not at current prices. current population is about 6.6 billion soulshttphttp: The U.S. is said to control the largest amount of gold bullion. But speculation is that much of it has been leased out or sold. No inventory has been done since eisenhower was president--even congress is denied access, from what I heard. If 2% of the world population (132,000,000 people) decided to buy an ounce of silver, every available ounce in the major exchanges would be gone. If anyone has better info, please post it.
