If investments were made in unit trusts ,not paying any dividends, the invested money would otherwise earn interest in a building society/bank, the investors are loosing money ..They would have earned 40% in interest.



The brokers and investment advisors would have made their money ,in the form of annual fund management fees.

No, you are not correct my friend. Stock markets all over the world gives 15 percent return of your investments. Don't take the example of a particular exchange and of a particular short period. Stock markets gives you decent returns , if you stay invested for five years and above.

Thats a bit of a pointless argument, by picking 2 arbitary points on a curve you can get pretty much any result you want.

I dont trade stocks myself, but I've had over 100% returns over the last 12 months from the company who trade my portfolio. To put that into perspective, they achieved a better annual return than me, with probably a third of the leverage !

The other issue of course is that anyone who wanted a guarenteed return had the option of sticking cash in a bank or building society.

As long as prices go up and down, there's money to be made

Yes, that is right, as you said, stock market are going to extinct in few years, lot of tempting goes for such kind of business as we cant go with the risky manner of business more.

I don't think that Stockmarket is bad place to invest. These days stock and forex market is on top as the best investment market.

Exactly, that is the point. If you want some secured return, then you should not go for stock market. But if you want to take some risk, you need to cope with that up and down of stock market and learn how to trade with patience.

It is not that stock market is always bad. Everywhere there is rise and fall. If one can invest analysis companies present conditions by analyzing the financial data and analyzing the ration one can sure be success and have great return. I myself have earned 20% return where banks give only 12-15% return. Analyzing carefully and forecasting is must....
